Drumree were determined to record a second win on the bounce in this competition, against Ratoath’s second team on Thursday evening.Played in perfect conditions for camogie,Brona Gavin opened the scoring with a rasper of a volley for the home team.

Sarah McNerney was very influential at centre back for Ratoath as she cleared a lot of ball, setting up numerous attacks at the same time. The visitors forwards were fast and pacey and ran at the Drumree defence at every opportunity.Jessica Wall was resolute in her defending and cleared her lines in the full back line.In a high quality first-half Drumree lead by 2-3 to 1-4.

The second-half started with a Caoimhe Rooney goal from centre back and Drumree added further scores from Ann Rattigan and Cliona Murphy.Ratoath emptied their bench and continued runningdirectly at the home teams defence. This approach would have yielded scores but for exceptional top drawer saves from Lisa Donnelly in goals.

Ratoath fielded a very young team and the final scoreline of 7-6 to 1.4 was a little flattering to Drumree.Best for Drumree were Jessica Wall,Ciara Jones,Niamh O’ Sullivan and Brona Gavin.
