Camogie League - Drumree run riot against Boardsmill

Division 3 Camogie League

Boardsmill 0-0 Drumree 2-12

Drumree got their league campaign of to a winning start with a comprehensive victory away to Boardsmill’s  second team.Caoimhe Rooney and Hayley Reynolds made their adult debut’s while Niamh O’ Sullivan also made her debut for her parish club, having previously played with Ratoath.

Drumree settled into the match quickly and Juliette Wall opened the scoring with a well taken point. The visitors dominated the possession stakes, but found it hard to breakdown a spirited and well organised Boardsmill. The turning point of the half was when Chloe Mahon gained possession on the opposition 45 metre line, beat two defenders and from the 20 metre line unleashed a wristy shot of power and accuracy that nearly burst the Boardsmill net.The half-time score was 1-5 to 0-0 in favour of Drumree.

The team talk during the break centred on continuing to do the right thing and to keep taking the correct options.Louise Griffen,on a break from College in Germany, moved to midfield for the second-half and completely dominated proceedings. She scored four points of supreme skill and quality and showed what a top player she is.

.
It’s nearly pointless mentioning individual performances as Drumree’s attitude and application from one to sixteen was immense.Louise Griffen,Niamh O’ Sullivan,Juliette Wall and Chloe Mahon come in for special mention.Brona Gavin and Sarah Keane made themselves available even though both had been suffering with chest infections all week.

Congratulations to Jessica Wall ,Vice-Captain for the season on leading her team to victory in the absence of Cliona Murphy.
