MHC 'B' Semi Final: Drumree/BHG & Kilmessan all square after extra time

Div 2 Minor Hurling Championship Semi-Final

Drumree/Blackhall Gaels 3 – 17 Kilmessan 5- 11 (after extra-time)

This semi-final ended in draw at full-time and again after extra-time.Drumree/BHG started brightly and playing with the wind in the first half went into a comfortable lead with David Reilly scoring the opening goal before a number of well taken points were also added.Just befor the interval  Kilmessan scored a goal to leave the half-time score 2-8 to 1-3 in favour of Drumree/BHG.

Drumree/BHG scored the first two points of the second-half to lead by ten.Kilmessan assisted by the wind, started looking for goals to bring themselves back into the match. With three of the Drumree/BHG players having played in a schools match earlier in the day, fatigue became a factor and buoyed on by scoring two goals,Kilmessan drove at us at every opportunity. The Drumree/BHG put their bodies on the line to leave the score at full-time 3-13 to 5-7 a draw.

Extra-time was required but this did not separate the teams, with four points being added by each side to leave the score deadlocked again at 3-17 to 5-11.This was not our best performance but every player gave 100% for the cause.Best for Drumree/BHG were David Reilly,Liam Carey and Diarmuid Christie.

The provisional  arrangement for the replay is next Friday at 7.30 in Dunganny.
