Resounding Win For Minors In League

Drumree/Blackhall Gaels 4 – 18      Navan O’ Mahony’s  2 – 8

The Drumree/BHG combination got their second League win on the bounce with a hard fought victory over Navan  O’Mahony’s on Tuesday evening.In spite of the recent non-stop rain,the pitch in Batterstown was in great condition,and perfect for hurling.The home side made the better start and scored the first four points without reply.

The first half was a keenly fought affair,but Drumree/BHG got their scores at opportune times,the pick of which was a Niall Kelly goal.Paul Kelly deputised in goal for the first-half and made a number of important saves to leave the interval score 2 – 9 to 1 – 2 in favour of Drumree/BHG.

Navan O’ Mahony’s upped the ante as expected and scored a goal and three points early in the second-half.The Drumree/BHG defence settled down and led by Shane Whitty stood up to the physicality displayed by the town team.

Colin Farrell was moved to the edge of the square and was rewarded with two goals while Gareth Rooney got the point of the match,when he caught the sliotar in his own half,soloed through and picked of a sweet point from long range.The final score was Drumree/BHG 4 – 18 Navan O’ Mahony’s 2 – 8.

This was a good team performance from the whole squad with fine displays from Niall Kelly,Colin Farrell,Darragh Walsh,Darren Lawless,Josh Wall and David Reilly.
